Tencent Unveils 11-Inch Handheld with Intel Core Ultra 7 258V: Featuring Lunar Lake, 2.5K 120Hz Display, 32GB RAM, and 1TB Storage

If existing handheld gaming devices have left you yearning for a larger screen, you’ll want to pay attention to Tencent’s latest announcement. Tencent has unveiled its newest project: the Sunday Dragon 3D One. It’s not precisely a handheld in the traditional sense; you’d be justified in calling it a portable console. This impressive gadget runs on an Intel Lunar Lake CPU and features a huge 11-inch display, offering a more immersive visual experience—assuming it’s manageable to hold that thing.

Under the hood, the 3D One is driven by the Core Ultra 7 258V, including four powerful P-Cores (Lion Cove), four efficient E-Cores (Skymont), and the Arc 140V integrated GPU with eight Xe2 cores. In our thorough testing, Intel’s latest Lunar Lake processors are now neck-and-neck with AMD’s Strix Point (Ryzen AI 300 APUs) when it comes to gaming performance. On the memory front, there’s 32GB of soldered LPDDR5X-8533 RAM onboard—perfect for modern computing tasks but unfortunately, not upgradable. There’s mention of a “high-speed” 1TB SSD that you can upgrade if you need more speed or storage space.

Now, the 3D One might become the first Lunar Lake-powered handheld you can get your hands on, as long as it successfully launches this year. Keep in mind that MSI’s Claw 8 AI+ isn’t expected until early 2025. However, don’t get too excited yet because Videocardz points out that the 3D One is still just a prototype, at least for now. Its massive 11-inch, 2560×1440 display with a 120Hz refresh rate makes it practically an alternative to a laptop, although its size could be cumbersome to some. By contrast, GPD’s upcoming Pocket 4 mini-laptops are maxing out at 8.8 inches for the screen. Tencent’s latest endeavor features real-time eye-tracking technology for a 3D experience without the glasses (autostereoscopic). Reports say Tencent has already optimized several games, including Path of Exile, Blade & Soul, and Arena Breakout: Infinite for this exciting tech.

In terms of controls, the built-in controllers bring Hall Effect joysticks, linear triggers, and two customizable buttons around the back. These controllers can be detached if you prefer using third-party options—just confirm they’re suitable for the unique design of the 3D One. Furthermore, it supports 100W fast-charging, though specifics on battery capacity remain a mystery.

The design of the 3D One is definitely unique. Typically, you’d expect a handheld to be comfortable and easy to use for extended gaming sessions. However, smaller screens can sometimes detract from the depth and richness of a game. As the 3D One is still a prototype, it might only be available in limited quantities and perhaps just in select markets, appealing only to a niche enthusiast crowd.
