Retro publisher Inin Games has recently taken over the publishing rights for Shenmue 3. In their announcement, they mentioned that this new venture was a natural progression after collaborating with YsNet, the developer of Shenmue 3, on Air Twister.
Shenmue 3, a highly anticipated continuation of the much-lauded series, hit the shelves in 2019, four years after its initial announcement in 2015. Originally, Deep Silver was in charge of bringing the game to market.
“Inin Games feels privileged to take on the Shenmue series at this pivotal time,” the company shared in their statement. They acknowledged the series’ two decades of trailblazing and heartfelt storytelling and pledged to keep the saga of Ryo Hazuki alive for veteran fans and newcomers alike.
“This transfer means the Shenmue story is just getting started,” they continued. “We’ve got some thrilling plans to celebrate the series’ anniversaries and ensure this cherished franchise remains vibrant and influential. Stay tuned for future announcements as we roll out our vision for the next chapter in Shenmue’s enduring journey.”
