The experienced developers over at Fast Travel Games have announced an exciting new addition for VR enthusiasts: their latest VR shooter, Action Hero, is set to hit Quest headsets next month. This game takes a strong cue from the popular Superhot series, embracing the signature time-freezing mechanic that lets you pause time with your own movements. This gives players the thrilling opportunity to craft their own strategic and cinematic gun actions, in true John Wick style.
Mark your calendars for December 12th when Action Hero launches on Quest 2 and newer devices. Players will step into the shoes of a leading character across five unique movie scenarios, each offering a taste of different film genres.
The game is structured with care—each film comprises four acts, and each act is broken down into five distinct scenes. Progress involves navigating through enemies and dynamic obstacles in epic slow motion, with time accelerating when you pick up the pace. It’s all about quick reflexes and smart strategy; a single hit means you’ll need to restart the act from scratch, according to the developers.
Fast Travel Games has teased a few of the genres players can expect, including a thrilling heist, an adventurous Indiana Jones-like journey, a cybernetic world filled with cyborgs, and a ninja-themed challenge, the latter showcased in the game’s latest teaser trailer.
Besides the pulse-pounding slow-motion gunplay, Action Hero will also feature intense boss battles and various weapons unique to each movie theme. They’re also including five extra ‘Director’s Cuts’—these are modified levels that offer fresh, more demanding, and often zany experiences for players who crave an additional challenge.
Exclusively available on Quest 2 and above, Action Hero will be priced at $20. As you wait for its release, you can add it to your wishlist on the Horizon Store now.
