With just four months to go until Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land hits the shelves on March 21st, excitement is building. KOEI TECMO and Gust don’t think it’s too soon to delve into the game’s combat and synthesis mechanics, and neither do those eagerly awaiting the launch—just 122 days to go!
You’ll find all the juicy details, along with some fresh artwork by Benitama, in the trailer we’ve shared below.
While the trailer tantalizes with fast-paced cuts, a recent press release spills more beans on what viewers can anticipate:
As adventurers prepare for the journey, they’ll rediscover the Atelier series’ iconic synthesis system, this time with a twist. By manipulating “mana,” players can craft items that aid in combat and exploration. Those aiming to produce more formidable items will need to master “Resonance Synthesis,” a process involving the addition of resonating ingredients to a recipe’s “Alchemy Core.” The impact of these resonances depends significantly on the quality of the ingredients chosen.
Combat in Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land is set to thrill with a revamped, real-time system designed for intuitive play. Team members’ skills hinge on their engagement distance—whether they’re in close quarters or handling ranged combat. This installment allows for characters to be moved or swapped at any point during battles. Successfully meeting specific conditions enables unleashing a “Friend Action” combo. Furthermore, activating “Mana Surge” provides access to exclusive actions, and each character boasts a unique move, “Maximize Mana Surge,” capable of delivering substantial damage to foes.
But it’s not just about the fights and crafts. Atelier Yumia expands on gameplay by enhancing players’ abilities to customize and upgrade their bases for various boosts and enhancements.
Adventurers will join Yumia and her crew in exploring the expansive Aladiss continent, crafting their own bases along the way. With the new “Building” feature, players can design and furnish their ateliers using a wide array of walls, floors, roofs, furniture, and more, or opt for pre-set base models. Raising the “comfort level” of their bases unlocks bonuses, enhancing Yumia’s and her companions’ abilities.
When players prefer not to return to base during their expeditions, they can establish camps to engage in activities like cooking, which provides numerous benefits for exploration and battle. Additionally, certain character events exclusive to camps will occasionally occur, offering a deeper narrative experience for Yumia and her friends.
There are some enticing pre-order incentives, too. Purchase a physical or digital copy by two weeks post-launch, and you’ll get exclusive costumes for Yumia and Flammi, as well as the distinctive “Training Wrist Weight” gear.
And for avid collectors, the Premium Box edition, sold through the NIS America Store for $160, includes the game, Yumia’s treasured stuffed animal, an artbook, a set of six decorative keychains, a CD with bonus tracks, and an official short story with a translation booklet.
