Hello, everyone! I’m Juan Martinez, the executive producer at Fatshark and part of the talented team behind Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. It’s my pleasure to introduce PlayStation gamers to the intense, cooperative, grimdark world we’ve been crafting for you.
Today is an exciting day as we’ve opened the doors to Warhammer 40,000: Darktide for PS5 players who’ve pre-ordered the Imperial Edition. Mark your calendars because on December 3rd, the game will be available for all PS5 enthusiasts.
When Darktide first launched on PC back in November 2022, we rolled up our sleeves and dove into expanding and enhancing the game. We’ve dished out over nine major updates and more than 25 content drops and improvements. The PS5 release is lining up beautifully with our 10th major free update: Grim Protocols. And trust me, we’ve got big plans for the future!
Fast-Paced Combat, Fatshark-Style
Creating a game in the Warhammer 40,000 universe has been a dream for us, and with Darktide, that dream comes alive. In this four-player co-op action experience, you step into the shoes of a convict—known as a Reject—fighting alongside the Inquisition to reclaim Tertium from the clutches of Chaos. Mastering the combat requires deftly switching between melee and ranged attacks, a system we’ve poured our hearts into refining.
Bringing Warhammer 40,000: Darktide to PS5 and PS5 Pro
Our journey to bring Darktide to PS5 was all about giving players the ultimate gaming experience. Adapting to the PS5’s robust hardware meant offering you options like a Performance Mode for smooth gameplay at 60FPS on a 1440p resolution or a Quality Mode for stunning visuals at 30FPS on 4K. PS5 Pro owners will enjoy a steady 60FPS at 4K, thanks to PSSR technology.
We also spent a lot of time with the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback to ensure they feel like an integral part of the Darktide experience. Whether you’re firing the explosive rounds of a Boltgun or honing the precision of a Lasgun, each weapon offers a unique feel. Automatic weapons will give you a thrill with the controller’s rumble and trigger effects. Run out of ammo, and you’ll sense it as the triggers build intensity. Imagine the rush of slicing through enemies with the Chainsword—it’s visceral and gritty.
Unlock Your Potential
We’ve poured a ton of creativity into the character creator to let you feel right at home on Tertium. Customize your Reject with a range of appearances, classes, backgrounds, and voices. Each class comes with its own talent tree for personalized play styles across three sub-classes. Our Itemization overhaul expands your freedom, so you can specialize in any of the 40+ weapon families.
An Ever-Evolving Game
December 3rd isn’t just the PlayStation launch; it’s when the Grim Protocols, our 10th major update, rolls out packed with exciting content. Get ready to face the new endgame mode, Havoc, designed for battle-hardened operatives. It’s a real test of skill as you navigate Tertium.
Among our 20+ missions, a new one invites you to the Carnival—an infamous spot brimming with danger and diversion. Plus, you’ll have new toys to play with, like the formidable Two-Handed Force and Power Swords, and the Ogryn Heavy Stubber.
Stay tuned to our official PS5 updates so you’re in the loop for all the thrilling content arriving in 2025. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide makes its PS5 debut on December 3rd. Welcome to Tertium, Rejects—brace yourselves for what’s coming. For the Emperor!
