The creators of Vampire Survivors have just unveiled a new roadmap that’s truly making heads spin. Although there aren’t any conventional update notes from the game’s developer, Poncle, a whimsical video was shared, depicting the released and unreleased features swirling together like a miniature galaxy.
Since its full launch in October 2022, Poncle has been busy keeping Vampire Survivors exciting with six DLC packs and numerous updates that have expanded the characters, weapons, and stages available to players. The most recent addition, the “Ode to Castlevania” DLC, arrived in late October 2024, bringing in over 20 new characters from the famed Castlevania series and introducing more than 40 distinct weapon types.
The current roadmap is anything but straightforward. It names content like the newly released “Ode to Castlevania” and its character, Hammer, alongside other past updates, including the Contra-inspired Operation Guns DLC from May and February’s free Space 54 update. While many terms are linked to previously released content, a few enigmatic titles like Pyroclasm, West Woods, House, and Final Flight stand out. There’s no clear answer to whether these will become new stages, updates, or something completely different. The game’s social media team is encouraging players to ponder and unravel these mysteries.
The swirling roadmap seems deliberately obscure. A Twitter post wished fans “good luck working out what’s next,” and the social media team has been playfully engaging with fans who are guessing what the future holds. Although they amusedly confirm there won’t be any literal vampires in the game, they did acknowledge that adding a Dance Dance Revolution mat feature would be “pretty epic.” Meanwhile, one thing they do confirm is that new achievements are indeed in the pipeline.
This isn’t the first chaotic roadmap for Vampire Survivors. In late December 2023, a similarly swirling but static roadmap revealed a list of upcoming game updates; many have found their way into the 2024 lineup as well.
Vampire Survivors is set against the backdrop of gothic horror where players face endless night creatures. The game is simple yet compelling, with roguelite elements that keep the action fresh. Charged with surviving until dawn in a hell overrun with devils, players gather gold to buy upgrades to help in their fight. It’s an indie sensation, offering players the chance to take on a bullet hell frenzy like no other!
