If you’ve been itching for more content in Pokémon TCG Pocket, there’s some good news coming your way. A fresh expansion is set to launch next week, bringing a new booster pack that may just let you get your hands on a Mew.
According to the latest update shared on the game’s official Twitter account, this upcoming expansion is named Mythical Island and will be available starting Tuesday, December 17. The TCG Pocket’s social media manager humorously noted, “I had to bust through a few doors to deliver this tidbit. (Okay, I just asked super politely and maybe shed a tear or two).”
As revealed in the trailer below, the expansion will introduce a slew of new cards. Among the highlights are the coveted Mew, Aerodactyl, and Celebi ex cards. For those who’ve already accumulated countless Doduos (or Doduos, or Dodui—who knows?), this new Mythical Island booster pack offers a refreshing new quartet of options.
The trailer’s description teases, “The Mythical Island expansion brings over 80 cards, featuring five thrilling new Pokémon ex cards, five brand-new Trainer cards, and stunning, immersive cards that transport you into the enchanting Pokémon universe.”
Additionally, you’ll find new binder and display board covers that showcase the beautiful Mythical Island scenery. These additions let you send your Pokémon on a virtual getaway—or at least pretend they are—which fits right in with Pokémon’s quirky style of ethically questionable zookeeping, if you ponder it for too long.
Do Pokémon like living as seemingly immortal creatures who are made to duel in card arenas? Hard to say, but The Pokémon Company has recently revealed that TCG Pocket has surpassed 60 million downloads. I wouldn’t want to stir the pot with that huge fan base, myself included.
