Japanese game developer Tango Gameworks is contemplating the possibility of a sequel to their 2023 hit, Hi-Fi Rush. In an interview with IGN, Colin Mack, the head of the studio, hinted at the idea but stopped short of confirming any concrete plans for a follow-up.
“We’re thinking positively about a sequel,” Mack explained to IGN. “However, we aren’t yet at a stage where we can say, ‘This is exactly what we’re pursuing.'”
Adding to the conversation, Hi-Fi Rush’s director, John Johanas, mentioned that the team holds a deep affection for the game. “A lot of our team has a genuine love for Hi-Fi Rush, which gives us several avenues to explore,” he shared. “Right now, we’re in a phase of contemplating different possibilities.”
On a related note, project manager Kazuaki Egashira highlighted what defines Tango Gameworks: a constant quest for innovative experiences. “Hi-Fi Rush caught attention as a fresh original IP,” Egashira said. “But if it remains unchanged indefinitely, it risks becoming stagnant.”
He emphasized, “Tango Gameworks thrives on embracing new challenges. I aim to maintain an environment where developers remain at the forefront, fueled by our enduring passion.”
