Skyrim’s modding community is renowned for crafting sprawling quest mods, and there’s one mod that’s just leveled up in a big way. Already famous for its intricate plague mechanics mirroring real-world epidemics, “Death Consumes All” has expanded significantly with an overhaul that fans won’t want to miss. Drawing inspiration from the acclaimed “Hearts of Stone” DLC from The Witcher 3, this mod is a compelling addition to the Skyrim universe.
If you’ve ventured into the original “Death Consumes All,” released back in 2020, you’re not alone; it’s racked up over 100,000 downloads on Nexus Mods. Gamers were captivated by its 10-hour journey, packed with branching paths and narrated by talented voices. Created by Anbeegod, this mod piqued the interest of many who were up for the engaging questline.
Recently, Anbeegod has been hard at work on a refreshed version, which essentially reimagines the entire experience. The main storyline now stretches to an impressive 30 hours, and the revamped edition is available under the slightly modified name “Death Consumes All – DLC Quest Mod (Revamped).”
At its core, the storyline remains consistent. A deadly plague is creeping through Skyrim, mimicking the relentless spread of historical epidemics, and threatening to turn its inhabitants into undead nightmares. You team up with Livia Salvian, a well-developed follower, to battle formidable foes, unveil the terrifying truth, and ultimately decide the fate of the land.
However, many exciting changes define this new installment. Anbeegod shares that they’ve “completely revamped most of the original quests to enhance their flow, storytelling, and writing.” There are now “new quests with deep storytelling and diverse choices,” including an introductory segment, pushing the quest count from “over 13” to “over 17.” The mod also boasts 1000 additional lines of dialogue, raising the bar on voice acting and character depth.
Moreover, you can now “toggle off the plague,” veering away from its lethal course—a feature that might have been handy in the grim realities of the 14th century. Other enhancements aim to make combat more strategic and balanced while minimizing bugs and potential mod clashes.
It’s a tantalizing prospect for those itching to dive into 30 hours of dark, undead-filled adventure, all while contemplating why their Dragonborn always seems entangled in end-of-the-world predicaments. On a heartfelt note, Anbeegod mentions that “50% of this mod’s donation points will be shared with Doctors Without Borders to fight real-life epidemics,” which is a laudable initiative.
