Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft Gaming, recently shared some intriguing insights that point towards a closer alliance between Microsoft and Nintendo. He’s excited about collaborating with Nintendo to bring more Xbox games to their platforms, suggesting that we might see some Xbox titles making their way to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
Spencer appeared on Gamertag Radio where he acknowledged Nintendo’s innovative approach and how the original Switch was a big hit. Even though he hasn’t officially confirmed any specific Xbox games for Switch 2 yet, Microsoft’s track record shows they’re quite open to sharing their games beyond Xbox’s traditional boundaries.
Microsoft has already broadened its reach by bringing Minecraft to various platforms, including the Switch, and followed it up with titles like the Ori series, Pentiment, and Grounded. With the more powerful and upgraded Switch 2 slated for a 2025 release, it seems entirely feasible that Microsoft could port more complex games, possibly including the Halo series and other titles that originally debuted on Xbox consoles.
Moreover, Microsoft has already promised to launch the Call of Duty series on Nintendo’s devices. Activision Blizzard, which is now under Microsoft’s wing, has games like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1&2, Diablo 3, and Overwatch 2 already available on the Switch. It wouldn’t be surprising to see these or their sequels appear on the Switch 2. Spencer hinted at a broader vision saying Microsoft games might become available on even more platforms, suggesting that many big titles planned for 2025 could potentially be seen on both Switch and PlayStation.
