Elden Ring fans have been raving about the seamless co-op mod by the talented modder, Yui. This mod took the community by storm, and now Yui is turning their attention back to Dark Souls 3 with a similar project.
FromSoftware has always taken a distinct approach to online multiplayer. They’ve designed it to ease the difficulty of their games just a bit because if one silent protagonist dodging enemies isn’t enough, two certainly adds a thrilling edge. However, teaming up with friends isn’t always straightforward. Here’s where Yui comes in. Famous for bringing seamless co-op to Elden Ring and even Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, Yui is now channeling their expertise into crafting a seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls 3.
Recently, Yui released a teaser video showcasing the mod in action with them and a friend navigating Lothric Castle. If you haven’t played Dark Souls 3 yet but plan to, you might want to avoid spoilers. In the video, Yui explains that this mod removes all the traditional multiplayer limits, ensuring connections remain stable even after a player dies. It allows friends to journey together from the tutorial right through to the finale without interruptions or needing to resummon. Plus, it offers the ability to toggle invasions and tweak enemy difficulty for multiplayer sessions. Essentially, this mod seems to offer everything a fan could wish for!
As of now, Yui hasn’t specified when the mod will be available. So, patience is your best friend here. Fortunately, fans of Elden Ring have something to look forward to this year: a new chapter called Nightreign. This release will feature built-in seamless co-op, akin to Yui’s mods, though it emphasizes replayability as a boss-centric roguelite.
