The Pokemon Company has announced it will step up production efforts for future Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. This move comes as pre-orders for the upcoming Destined Rivals set are being unexpectedly canceled due to overwhelming demand. With Pokemon TCG’s popularity soaring, fans often find themselves struggling to secure new packs and boxes on release days.
Even with the success of the Pokemon TCG Pocket mobile game, many enthusiasts prefer the tangible experience of collecting cards and strategizing decks to battle with friends. Unfortunately, acquiring these cards has become more challenging, largely due to high demand and the resale tactics of scalpers. GameStop has stopped taking pre-orders for Pokemon TCG, and both they and the Pokemon Center have limited purchases to counteract these issues. Despite these efforts, the cancellation of Destined Rivals pre-orders has raised alarm among the community.
A recent update on the Pokemon Company’s official website addresses these fan concerns. They confirm that the company plans to ramp up manufacturing of Pokemon TCG products to make sure more stock is available when new sets are launched. This includes reprinting some high-demand items, which will soon be available at major retailers and the Pokemon Center’s online store.
Aiming to improve the buying experience, the Pokemon Company is also leveraging new technology to ensure fans have a fair chance at purchasing new releases, mitigating the risk of another situation similar to the Destined Rivals cancellation. While concrete new measures are yet to be revealed, the existing online queue system is already helping fans access products during peak shopping times.
There is optimism that these production increases will ease existing frustrations, though it’s uncertain just how much of an impact they will have. Nevertheless, upcoming releases, like the new Team Rocket-themed packs, remain on schedule. Fans in Japan can expect the Glory of Team Rocket expansion soon, with international audiences receiving the Destined Rivals edition in May.
