In recent weeks, players who favor the Strategist role in Marvel Rivals have faced some challenging times. It’s tough enough to manage healing tasks, but adding a surprise attack from a Spider-Man player can make it almost impossible. With the current meta favoring the fastest and strongest heroes, Strategists have been struggling just to keep up. Thankfully, a change might be on the horizon with the upcoming mid-season patch.
NetEase addressed the ongoing difficulties in a Dev Talk post last Friday. They acknowledged how the fastest heroes, like Iron Fist, dominate this season, which has pressured Strategists to juggle team health management, careful use of abilities, and maintaining map awareness.
To ease this burden, NetEase plans to boost the damage potential of support characters. This enhancement will not only make them more formidable but also open up new team strategies. The plan includes making characters like Groot and Captain America easier to defeat, and they’ll tweak Spider-Man’s uppercut move to be less effective.
The patch, expected in early May, will expand the roster by adding Ultron, who will join as a Strategist, as revealed in an official video preview.
NetEase aims to maintain game balance by introducing new heroes cautiously. Instead of making sweeping changes, they’re opting for smaller adjustments, which should help level the playing field without dampening the excitement for those who enjoy playing as aggressive heroes. Giving support players more options to defend themselves seems like a promising step forward.
