Sony’s got some exciting news for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 fans — the sci-fi adventure will get a taste test on PS Plus Premium starting next month. Although it hit the shelves just recently, the game quickly captured the hearts of many, with PS Plus stepping in to mark the monumental 30th anniversary of PlayStation by offering this trial in December 2024.
Behind the wheel of Space Marine 2 is Saber Interactive, a developer who has seen their creation garner widespread acclaim both critically and commercially since its September 2024 release. By October, the game boasted an impressive 4.5 million player base, and chances are that number has just kept climbing. Sure, there were a few bumps with updates that ruffled some feathers in the community, but Saber Interactive didn’t waste time smoothing things over. There’s even more to look forward to with some fresh content dropping in December.
PlayStation’s got a treat for PS5 players, too. Their recent blog hinted at a Space Marine 2 game trial kicking off on PS Plus Premium from December 3, 2024. It’s not every day you see high-profile entries like this getting a trial on PS Plus Premium. Case in point: the last major trial they added was for Stellar Blade back in June, and we haven’t seen any since.
Speaking of December goodies, there’s more on the way for PS Plus Premium subscribers. In addition to the Space Marine 2 game trial, there’s a nostalgic blast from the past with three PS2 classics joining the lineup: Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Sly 2: Band of Thieves, and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. Over on PS Plus Essential, gamers can dive into the 2021 Game of the Year, It Takes Two, or explore other adventures like the Pokémon-inspired MMO Temtem and the strategy-infused Aliens: Dark Descent.
Space Marine 2 is a beast of an experience, throwing players into the boots of a Space Marine, where you fend off galactic horrors with a mix of intense action and brutal combat. As Space Marine Titus, either alone or teamed up in three-player co-op, you’ll tackle aggressive foes, defend humanity, and crush the relentless Tyranid swarms in an epic campaign. With options for both solo play and multiplayer, it’s a ride of relentless phases and expansive battles, worthy of PlayStation’s monumental celebration.
