Yesterday marked a significant milestone for Bigscreen as the company opened up pre-orders for its new Beyond 2 PC VR headset. This updated model promises enhanced field-of-view and clarity, largely thanks to its innovative pancake lens design. Impressively, just 10 hours into the sales, Beyond 2 has already sold more units than the original Beyond did over an extended period.
Bigscreen took to social media platform X to share updates on the impressive sales performance of Beyond 2 among PC VR enthusiasts. The excitement was palpable as they announced, “In just the first 25 minutes, Beyond 2 outsold the entire first day’s sales of Beyond 1. Within an hour, we had doubled Beyond 1’s launch day sales.”
As the day continued, the company provided further insights into the sales trends for Beyond 2 and its eye-tracking variant, the Beyond 2e. The most striking figure came later: “Within 10 hours of launch, Beyond 2 has sold more than the first four months of Beyond 1 sales.”
At present, shipments for Beyond 2 and its 2e counterpart are slated for June 2025. This is quite a leap from the initial April and May projections due to the overwhelming demand.
So, what’s behind the hype for Beyond 2? For those interested, you can dive deeper into Beyond 2’s specifications, but one clear draw is the upgrade path Bigscreen offers. Owners of the first-generation Beyond have the advantage of purchasing the new model at a reduced rate—$849 for Beyond 2 and $1049 for Beyond 2e—and they can enjoy backward compatibility with most of Beyond 1’s accessories, including the custom facial interface from the original model.
The Beyond 2 boasts several upgrades, including a fresh pancake lens design that brings a wider 116-degree diagonal FOV and an adjustable IPD mechanism, all within a lighter 107g frame. The 2e model further enhances this with AI-powered eye-tracking technology. While it retains the dual 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays of its predecessor, the new lenses offer improved clarity and field of view.
Priced at $1,019 and $1,219 respectively (with discounts for previous Beyond users), Beyond 2 and 2e debuted alongside a new halo-style mount and a Lightblocker facial interface set to be available by Q3 2025.
All these exciting options are available for purchase on the Bigscreen website.
