Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 hit the ground running after its launch yesterday, drawing in more than 50,000 simultaneous players on Steam. That’s an impressive feat for a single-player RPG. According to SteamDB, a platform that tracks Steam’s activity, the game reached a high of 51,922 concurrent players, and this is just counting the PC gamers. These numbers don’t even cover those playing on consoles, where Clair Obscur is also available.
The game is the debut project of Sandfall Interactive, a French indie game developer. They’ve definitely made a strong entrance into the gaming world with this title. Our editor, Dom Peppiat, couldn’t help but praise the game in his review, saying, “If RPGs have ever been your thing, you absolutely need to give this a shot. It might just resonate with you more than you think.”
Although the player count might dip soon—common for titles reliant on single-player narratives as people finish the game and move on—the buzz around it is likely to keep new players coming. This weekend could see another uptick, as folks are likely to have more time to dive into Sandfall’s intriguing world.
There’s even more to entice potential players: Clair Obscur is available on Game Pass. For those watching their wallets, this could be a perfect way to try out the game. Currently priced at £41.99 (or your local equivalent), it’s on offer with a 10% discount right now, but Game Pass offers a great alternative for anyone hesitant to make a full purchase.
Have you tried Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 yet? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
