Wow, things moved quickly. Just last month, modder Yui hinted at developing a seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls: Remastered, although they indicated it was still in the early stages. I thought I wouldn’t see it until sometime after Elden Ring Nightreign’s release next month. Surprise, it’s already here!
I should have guessed—Yui, known for creating the top multiplayer mod for Elden Ring, has been on a roll. They’ve already developed a seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls 3 back in February. That’s two significant mods in just four months. Impressive.
Before you rush to download the seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls: Remastered, let’s go over some details. The mod is currently in its alpha phase. Yui has noted that users might encounter bugs and encourages detailed reports to aid future updates. So diving in now might mean helping smooth out any initial hiccups, but if you’re eager for co-op gameplay, that probably won’t deter you.
As shown in the demo above, this mod includes many multiplayer features fans of Yui’s previous work will recognize. You can team up with up to five other players to explore the game’s world, share NPC dialogue, and tackle bosses without the penalty of having teammates sent home if they fall. Instead, they’ll spectate until they can rejoin the fun.
Some additional tweaks with the mod include an updated peer-to-peer connection using Steam’s latest networking API, allowing players worldwide to join the host effortlessly. Plus, enemy scaling adjustments aim to keep the game balanced, and if you’re up for it, you can turn on invasions for added excitement.
This should keep you entertained until next month when you can face Nightreign’s challenging adversaries and more.
