Last week, Sony excited fans by revealing a PS5 remaster of Days Gone. However, there’s a bit of a catch for those who snagged the game through PS Plus.
At some point—which I can’t quite pinpoint—amidst the flood of free monthly games from PS Plus, Days Gone was one of the titles offered. If you grabbed it back then, it’s now part of your library. Many of you who got it this way were likely thrilled about the announcement of a PS5 remaster. The good news for owners of the PS4 version is that upgrading only costs $10. But here’s the twist: this sweet upgrade deal is only available for individuals who actually purchased the physical or digital version of the game, leaving PS Plus claimants out of the loop.
This information emerged from the fine print in a Bend Studio post, outlining a $10 upgrade path. It states, “PS4 game redemptions via PlayStation Plus are not eligible for upgrade.” This decision seems a bit strange, especially since there’s probably a good number of players willing to fork out a tenner for the upgrade. Perhaps Sony figured they’d profit more from folks buying the remaster outright.
Days Gone originally hit the PS4 back in 2019, garnering fairly average reviews, though it sold reasonably well. Fans hoping for a sequel were let down when Bend Studio confirmed last year that it wasn’t in the cards. A movie adaptation was announced in 2022, but since then, there’s been radio silence. This remaster might be the game’s last hurrah.
Mark your calendars: Days Gone Remastered is set to launch on April 25 for PS5 and PC.
