Elon Musk, who holds the title of the world’s richest individual and has recently formed a close connection with President-elect Trump, is venturing into the video game scene with plans to launch his own gaming studio.
Musk shared some light details about this new endeavor on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, which he acquired in October 2022. The platform has seen a decline in users, especially in the wake of the latest U.S. presidential election. On the morning of November 27, Musk expressed his thoughts, saying, “Too many game studios […] are owned by massive corporations,” before unveiling his plan. His own large corporation, xAI, is initiating an AI game studio with the bold mission to “make games great again.”
xAI describes its mission as creating artificial intelligence that aims to speed up human scientific breakthroughs and is guided by a goal to enhance our understanding of the universe. One of the company’s most recognized products is Grok, a ChatGPT-like bot accessible to X Premium subscribers. Musk founded xAI in March 2023.
For those of us invested in this field, even if we’ve moved away from X to explore other platforms, it looks like we’ll still need to keep Musk on our radar. He continues to strengthen his ties with President-elect Donald Trump, who has a well-documented history of supporting the enterprises of his allies and turning their adversaries into his own.
