This week, we took on the task of listing our Top Five Games of 2024, an event that has become somewhat of a tradition for us at RFN.
If you’re not familiar with how we do things, you should know that our process is refreshingly unstructured. The only broad criteria we work with are that the games come from 2024 and are available on Nintendo systems. But don’t be fooled—these aren’t rigid rules. There’s plenty of flexibility; at the very least, it’s nice if you’ve played the game this year. That said, we have occasionally bent this rule under special circumstances.
Because of this wonderfully loose framework, compiling a unanimous Top Five seemed out of the question, so each list reflects individual tastes and opinions.
You won’t be surprised to find a bit of overlap among our personal lists. Interestingly enough, the top spot is shared across two lists, though I confidently doubt anyone will predict which game it is. Undoubtedly, someone will claim they guessed it right, but I remain skeptical of such assertions.
Feel free to send us your best digital guesses, even if they stray far from the truth.
On a side note, this episode comes masterfully edited thanks to Guillaume Veillette. The theme song, “Men of Leisure,” was crafted exclusively for Radio Free Nintendo by Perry Burkum, and you can explore more of Perry’s work on SoundCloud. Our show’s logo was created by the talented Connor Strickland, who has more exciting projects showcased on his website.
Finally, we closed the episode with “Chasing After Dad” from Another Code Recollection, a piece requested by A.G., with all rights reserved by Nintendo Co., Ltd.
