Right now, Stalker 2 is having a bit of a rocky start with some noticeable bugs, but good news is on the horizon. GSC Game World has announced that a patch is coming soon to address some of these issues.
Earlier this week, Stalker 2 officially hit the shelves, but it wasn’t the smoothest launch. Despite its problems, our very own Connor found enough to appreciate in his review. The game has received mixed responses from the community, yet it’s making waves on Steam, and the modding community has wasted no time tackling the bothersome stutter issue. But don’t worry, official help is on the way. On Stalker 2’s Steam page, GSC Game World revealed that the game’s first post-launch patch is set to drop next week.
The team took to the page, saying, “The game has been out for several days now (it still feels surreal to say that), and we’ve been diligently listening to your feedback in every form imaginable. To the over one million stalkers exploring the Zone, thanks for playing—your support means the world to us. We know you’ve got plenty to do in the Zone, but so do we.” While the post doesn’t detail every single bug, it does provide a solid summary of what this patch will address.
For starters, we can anticipate fixes for crashes, particularly those related to memory allocation errors. They’ll also be tightening up main quest progressions to eliminate issues like NPCs getting stuck or incorrect quest markers. Expect some changes in gameplay balance too, such as adjustments to NPC behavior and weapon pricing, along with fixes to cutscenes and visuals. There are several other enhancements, but I’ll leave those for you to explore later.
Also worth noting, they mentioned a couple of issues planned for future patches. One involves fixing dead zones in analogue sticks, and the other deals with the game’s A-Life system, which has been a point of contention for many players. No timeline just yet on when these will be tackled, so patience will be your friend for now.
