Rebellion has just unveiled an extended trailer for Atomfall, giving us a closer look at 13 minutes of its gameplay ahead of its Game Pass debut next month. Although we’re still waiting on the Atomfall achievements, the video offers a tantalizing glimpse into the intriguing open-world experience this Xbox game has in store for players.
Rebellion’s latest video details Atomfall’s core gameplay elements, including exploration, investigation, combat, and survival mechanics. Scheduled for release on March 27, 2025, Atomfall will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. For those not yet familiar with Atomfall, it’s an action-survival game drawing inspiration from real-life events. Set five years after the Windscale nuclear disaster in Northern England, you find yourself with amnesia in a quarantine zone. To uncover the mystery at its center and survive the dangers lurking within, you’ll need to scavenge, craft, barter, fight, and negotiate your way through the British countryside.
The latest gameplay deep dive highlights several activities players can engage in, such as exploration, investigation, combat, and survival techniques. Notably, the exploration and investigation aspects seem quite comprehensive. According to Rebellion, you’ll have the liberty to chart your own course without a traditional quest system. Success relies on your ability to converse, research, investigate, and adapt as you strive to progress. Interestingly, Rebellion comments that each in-game journey we take forms part of a larger, interconnected story web, meaning pursuing one lead may close off certain aspects of another quest down the road.
The trailer also reveals some of the hazards you’ll encounter, from deadly robots to exploding sheep filled with dangerous spores, various factions you’ll need to face, and the intense combat sequences you can expect. Atomfall stands out as one of the more intriguing Game Pass releases anticipated this year, and it appears to be coming together impressively. What do you think about what we’ve seen so far?
