Remedy Entertainment, the creative force behind the fantastic Alan Wake 2, recently hosted its Capital Markets Day for investors and financial media. During this event, a treasure trove of intriguing details was shared, such as the revelation that Control 2 will be an action RPG. In addition to that, we learned that Alan Wake 2 has already hit a staggering 1.8 million units sold!
Those are certainly impressive numbers, but I’d like to steer your attention toward a game that might not be on your radar at all—Farming Simulator 25! The latest installment in what many consider a niche farming game series has astonishingly sold 2 million copies since its launch on November 12, 2024. Can you believe that? It just hit the shelves last week!
Now, let’s not pit these two fantastic games against each other. Both have their own charm and have garnered well-deserved success. But it does make you wonder: why does one game bask in the limelight as a critical darling while the other barely makes waves beyond its dedicated community? I’m part of this pattern too. There’s as much value in discussing Tekken 8 as there is in diving into Farming Simulator 25, each with their vibrant communities and captivating stories.
Interestingly, the perception plays a significant role here. Despite its impressive sales, Farming Simulator 25 may still be seen as a niche title by some. However, it’s not alone in this unique position. Take a look at Steam’s top sellers, and you’ll find games like Disney Dreamlight Valley, Hearts of Iron 4 expansions, and Foxhole—all with large player bases but fewer media spotlights. One thing to consider, though, is that Alan Wake 2 hasn’t been released on Steam yet—a factor that might have influenced the number of PC players willing to explore it.
This dynamic isn’t new, nor is it a grim sign for the gaming world. It’s the opposite—proof that you don’t need to be the flashiest AAA release to find success and build a fan base. It’s fascinating to see how some games claim the spotlight while others thrive quietly. Both Alan Wake 2 and Farming Simulator 25 have found their own dedicated audiences, which I think is pretty awesome.
So, a big round of applause goes to Farming Simulator 25 for its fantastic start and massive player base. Kudos also to Remedy for their work on Alan Wake 2 as they gear up for Control 2 and other exciting ventures. It’ll be interesting to see which game captures more attention: Farming Simulator 2026 or Control 2? Only time will reveal the answer.
