So, why would I put my money and trust in the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset? Well, Dell’s new toy is a perfect complement to their Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Mouse and Keyboard, marking the completion of their 2024 suite of gaming accessories. In my book, it outshines my Razer favorites, including the Kraken V3 Pro HyperSense and Kaira Pro, which is a big claim from a long-time Razer loyalist.
This headset won me over with its exceptional microphone. While Razer’s microphone is typically "decent enough," the Alienware Pro steps up the game with a unidirectional mic that captures my voice loud and clear. It’s a dream come true, especially when I’m spending evenings chatting away with friends on Discord. Although its AI noise-cancellation can be a bit much, it still effectively blocks out background noise if you turn it off, making this the best mic I’ve experienced so far.
When it comes to audio, the Alienware Pro is an audiophile’s delight. Thanks to its 50mm graphene-coated drivers, it delivers a rich, full sound with an impressive 20-40KHz frequency range. Whether it’s the bass that thumps, the mids that sing, or the highs that shimmer, it’s all there. In comparison, while Razer headsets have unique features like HyperSense or Sensa HD Haptics, the sheer power of Alienware’s audio is evident.
Comfort-wise, it feels snugger than the generously roomy models from Razer, yet it does feel lighter on the head. With adjustable bands and flexible build, it caters to all head shapes, while soft memory foam leatherette earcups offer all-day comfort. Granted, I might have a slight preference for Razer’s airy cushions, but Alienware’s take is nearly as good.
On the design front, Alienware’s minimalist approach shines through. It skips the flashy RGB lights and bold hues, opting instead for a sleek, understated style available in "Lunar Light" white or "Dark Side of the Moon" black. Built to last, the headset comes with convenient controls right on the ear cup — a volume wheel, mic mute toggle, and switches for both active noise canceling and connectivity options between 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth. Both wireless modes have worked flawlessly, granting me close to the promised 70-75 hours of battery life with ANC off. And yes, for those who prefer a wired connection, it has that option too.
The only real downers for me? It’s not Xbox-compatible and its ANC is somewhat lackluster. But hey, I’m not an Xbox regular, and I’m not a fan of ANC anyway. If those are deal-breakers for you, maybe explore other options. Otherwise, don’t miss the chance to snag this at $199.99 during the sales.
