The Binary Mill, an indie XR studio, is set to expand its space mining adventure game, Into Black, to the PSVR 2 platform, moving past its initial Quest exclusivity. This exciting release brings the adventurous gameplay reminiscent of Deep Rock Galactic to a broader audience.
First available on Quest in October, Into Black offers both solo and cooperative gameplay for up to four players. Players find themselves scavenging for resources, enhancing their equipment, and repairing their spaceship across more than 20 distinct levels. These levels feature various unique environments where players must overcome hostile creatures to collect enough parts for a successful escape from a perilous alien landscape.
The PSVR 2 edition will also introduce a thrilling ‘Singularity’ mode. This competitive online experience pits you against up to 11 other players, blending player-versus-player elements with environmental challenges. The game encourages strategic alliances, but be cautious—not everyone can be trusted as the play area gradually closes in on you. The objective is to collect as much loot as possible without falling victim to greed.
Enhancements for the PSVR 2 version promise a rich, immersive experience, featuring revamped environments with improved lighting effects, including HDR and eye-tracked foveated rendering. New haptic feedback features, such as adaptive triggers and headset rumble, will further draw players into the alien world, offering a more tactile gaming experience.
Although the developers have confirmed that there won’t be cross-play with the Quest at launch, the game has already garnered interest with a preview of stunning visuals and enhanced gameplay elements. While we wait for a comprehensive trailer showcasing the PSVR 2 enhancements, fans can look forward to more updates soon, as the studio has promised a release in the near future. In the meantime, eager players can add Into Black to their wishlist on the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2.
