Some Fortnite players on PC have found that the Zapotron doesn’t deal any damage in the current OG Season 2. Players often catch issues that slip past Epic Games’ internal tests, and the Zapotron is one such recent hiccup. Although developers have attempted a fix, some users still face problems.
Fortnite has revived its original OG season as a game mode and has launched its first new season following that. In OG Season 2, gamers can enjoy nostalgic landmarks, updated item rotations, and fresh cosmetics that honor the classics. However, with features like sprinting and healing on the move, it feels a bit different from playing the original Season 2. Despite this, many players are drawn to it for a taste of the past, contrasting with the current Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 1. However, not everything is perfect, as some fans have pointed out a flaw where the Zapotron, even when fully charged, fails to inflict any damage.
Twitter user Guille_GAG highlighted this issue by sharing a clip where the Zapotron is used against a motionless target. The Zapotron, a rare find in Fortnite OG Season 2, could give players a false sense of superiority when they get their hands on it. Sadly, the reality is different. The weapon needs to charge a little before it can fire, introducing a short delay. In the clip, after charging, the weapon is fired point-blank at an Iron Man skin, but it inflicts no harm. Despite repeated attempts, the result is the same: no damage dealt. Although an update from Fortnite Status claims the Zapotron has been fixed, some players still face this issue post-patch.
Considering the non-functional state of the Zapotron on PC, players might be better off with even the most basic pistols, which currently offer more reliable damage. The charging mechanism of the Zapotron already makes aiming tricky, and this glitch compounds the issue, possibly leading to frustrating in-game situations. Interestingly, in Guille_GAG’s clip, Iron Man flinches as if hit, yet there’s no evidence of damage—and this happens for each of the three shots fired. One Twitter user speculated that the problem could be related to the anti-cheat system, as console players haven’t reported similar issues.
Epic Games is likely to continue tweaking the Zapotron in future updates or patches. Given the extensive OG loot pool, its temporary removal might go unnoticed by some while Epic works on a solution.
