Nintendo recently revealed that global sales for the Nintendo Switch have surpassed 146.04 million units.
From the beginning of April to the end of September 2024, 4.72 million consoles were sold. While this marks a 31 percent decline compared to the same period last year, Nintendo pointed out that, in its eighth year, sales remain strong when compared to other Nintendo platforms in a similar timeframe.
The Switch has also set a new benchmark in terms of software, with more than 1.3 billion games sold, making it the most played Nintendo hardware to date. Nintendo emphasized that the Switch boasts more game titles than any other of their devices.
For those curious about which games are leading the charge, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is at the top with 64.27 million copies sold. Following it is Animal Crossing: New Horizons with 46.45 million and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with 35.14 million. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild trails at 32.29 million, surpassed slightly by Super Mario Odyssey at 28.50 million. Not far behind are Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield with 26.44 million copies flying off the shelves.
Rounding out the list, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet have moved 25.69 million units, while the more recent The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sits at 21.04 million. Super Mario Party holds its ground with 20.98 million, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe closes the lineup with 17.77 million copies sold.
