If you’re a pinball enthusiast or a Dungeons & Dragons devotee, there’s a new pinball machine on the scene that will likely pique your interest with its stunning design and eye-watering price tag.
I’ve always had a special fondness for pinball machines. They’re relics of a time gone by, yet they endure, becoming more lavish with every iteration. If I could, I’d love to have one myself, mainly so I wouldn’t have to keep shelling out cash each time I fancy a game. The catch? Buying a pinball machine isn’t cheap, and this latest Dungeons & Dragons-themed release is no exception. Created by Stern Pinball, renowned as the largest pinball manufacturer globally, this machine is a true spectacle. You can take a peek at it in the video below.
This machine is part of an official collaboration with Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, designed to celebrate the tabletop RPG’s 50th anniversary. It promises to whisk players away on an “epic and thrilling journey into the forgotten realms.” The game is packed with iconic D&D adversaries, including a red dragon, a gelatinous cube, and a mimic, along with memorable characters like Sammaster the lich and Xanathar the beholder. Players can also explore familiar locations in Faerûn, such as Arabel and Westgate. Adding to the excitement are appearances from well-known D&D figures like Critical Role’s Matthew Mercer, Laura Bailey, and Marisha Ray. Plus, Luke Gygax, son of the legendary Gary Gygax, lends his talents to the project.
In a surprising twist, Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance is also involved with the voice cast. It’s a fun tidbit to share, should you be one of the lucky few to own this machine. Just be prepared; it’s not exactly budget-friendly.
If you’re thinking of snagging one, the Pro edition starts at $7000. Want the Premium version? That’ll run you $9700. But the most exclusive of all is the Limited Edition, capped at just 740 units, priced at a staggering $13,000. While it’s an undeniably cool piece of pinball artistry, I’ll be sitting this one out.
