It’s an opportunity for PS users to dive into the world of multiplayer gaming without any additional cost—just make sure you’re connected to the internet and have a PSN account set up.
PlayStation Plus, Sony’s subscription service for the PS4 and PS5, unlocks numerous benefits. Beyond online multiplayer, it offers various tiers that grant access to free games, cloud streaming, and even the ability to play select PlayStation titles on PC.
Celebrating PlayStation’s 30th anniversary, Sony is treating gamers to a free multiplayer weekend from December 6 to December 8. During these days, players can enjoy multiplayer games online with only a PSN account and an internet connection, foregoing the usual PS Plus membership requirement. This event is strictly about online play, though, and does not include complimentary access to any game libraries.
Marking this significant milestone, Sony is also hosting an eSports tournament across the same weekend. From December 6 to 8, players can compete in popular games like Mortal Kombat 1, Tekken 8, Madden NFL 25, and Guilty Gear Strive. Winners will earn avatars and in-game prizes unique to the games they’re playing.
Additionally, PS Plus fans have a chance to win a free 30-month subscription. To spread the joy, PlayStation plans to award 30 individuals in every participating country, culminating in a total of 780 lucky winners. Entering is simple—just subscribe to PlayStation Plus Premium and play a title from the Classics Catalog. Current subscribers can also join by playing from the same collection. This sweepstakes will be active from December 10 to 23.
