OneXPlayer has rolled out the X1 Pro, a versatile new gadget featuring AMD’s cutting-edge Strix Point APUs. In a market that includes devices like the F1 Pro and Ayaneo 3, this latest offering stands out as it joins the league of handhelds powered by AMD’s Zen 5 Strix Point APUs. With this launch, OneXPlayer aims to rival GPD’s soon-to-arrive Pocket 4 mini-laptops, marking its ground in the competitive landscape.
The X1 Pro is designed to be incredibly flexible, serving as a laptop, a tablet, and a handheld gaming device all in one. Much like the Pocket 4, it sports the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, packing an impressive 12 cores—four are Zen 5 and the other eight are Zen5c—in a dual-CCX setup. With 12MB of L2 cache and 24MB of L3 cache, it also impresses with a boost clock reaching 5.1 GHz. For graphics, the device includes the Radeon 890M, boasting 16 Compute Units. The chipset features AMD’s XDNA 2 architecture that enables the NPU on the HX 370 to achieve up to 50 TOPS in AI performance.
One of the standout features of this device is its display, which uses a 10.95-inch 120 Hz LTPS panel, likely IPS, with a stunning 2560×1600 (2.5K) resolution. The screen is vibrant, covering 138% of the sRGB color space and can reach a brightness of 540 nits. The X1 Pro offers configurable storage options ranging from 1TB to 4TB, showcasing speedy read/write capabilities of 7.1 GB/s and 6.5 GB/s respectively, all in a 2280 form factor. Plus, there’s a MicroSD card slot to further extend storage.
Pricing for the X1 Pro varies with configuration, currently listed at presale rates. For instance, a model powered by the HX 370 with 1TB storage and 32GB RAM is priced at $1,399 during presale, and the cost for retail jumps to $1,599. The top-end variant with 4TB storage and 64GB RAM is tagged at $1,799 presale, rising to $1,999 thereafter.
With an ample 65.02Wh battery, the X1 Pro aims to offer up to eight hours of use, though actual battery life may differ. When set to a power configuration of 28W, users can expect roughly two hours of runtime. To keep up with power needs, OneXPlayer generously includes a 100W Gallium Nitride charger. In terms of connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
For gamers, the X1 Pro includes stylish hall-effect RGB joysticks designed to minimize stick drift. The device is well-equipped with ports, including two USB 4.0, an OCuLink, a MicroSD card slot, a USB 3.2 Type-A port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Starting today, the X1 Pro is available for presale at reduced prices. Shipping is slated to start on January 3rd, and enthusiasts can look forward to catching a live demo of the X1 Pro along with other products at CES 2025 next month.
