Acer has just launched a new set of six graphics cards in their Radeon RX 9070 lineup, showcasing both base and overclocked (OC) versions that boast impressive boost clocks of up to 3.1 GHz.
In an exciting move, Acer, known as AMD’s board partner, has introduced a fresh batch of RDNA 4 GPUs, unveiling the sleek BiFrost and Nitro models. While Acer may not be as frequently seen as some of AMD’s key collaborators, they certainly make the splash this time with three different models for each new graphics card.
The collection features two Nitro variants for both the Radeon RX 9070 XT and the standard RX 9070, along with a BiFrost variant for each. The BiFrost models are all about fantastic aesthetics and advanced cooling, while the Nitro models aim at the mainstream audience but don’t skimp on competitive specs.
Diving into the BiFrost series, the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB flaunts a triple-fan cooling configuration with an eye-catching shroud and sleek silverish details around the middle fan. It’s equipped with FrostBlade 4.0 ringed fans and designed with a counter-spin mechanism to enhance heat dissipation. Measuring about 295 mm long and 2.5 slots thick, this factory-overclocked card reaches a stellar boost clock of 3.1 GHz, promising a top-tier gaming performance.
The design of the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB largely mirrors its XT counterpart; however, it only needs two 8-pin power connectors, unlike the XT version, which requires three. Despite this difference, both cards are rated at 340W of power. Although the RX 9070 typically uses less power by default, the two 8-pin connectors, paired with a PCI-E x16 slot, easily handle the 340W power demand, yet don’t allow for as much overclocking potential as the RX 9070 XT OC.
Moving to the Acer Nitro series, it offers both non-OC and OC versions of each RX 9070 model. The Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC also sports a triple-fan design and matches the BiFrost edition in length and boost clock, hitting up to 3.1 GHz. Featuring three 8-pin power connectors, it draws 340W of power, akin to its BiFrost sibling. The non-OC Nitro RX 9070 XT scales back the power usage to 304W while maintaining all three connectors and achieves a 2970 MHz boost, along with a 2.4 GHz game clock.
For the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and its standard counterpart, they support boost clocks up to 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz, respectively. Power-wise, the OC model draws 245W, while the non-OC sits at 220W, though both share the same design blueprint.
While specifics on pricing for all these cards remain under wraps, Acer has disclosed that the Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB will retail at a hefty $829.99. As for the sleeker BiFrost edition, we can only anticipate a higher price tag. There’s no word yet on the general availability of these cards, but the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC is scheduled to hit U.S. markets in April.
