Warner Bros has decided not to move forward with an expansion for Hogwarts Legacy, a popular action RPG set in the Harry Potter universe. According to Bloomberg, this additional content was supposed to launch alongside a planned Definitive Edition of the game, which promised fresh storylines.
The decision to cancel reportedly came down to the amount of content being insufficient to warrant the expected price. Both Avalanche Software, the original developer, and Rocksteady were involved in developing this expansion. Despite this, Avalanche is rumored to be working on a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy.
In related news, Rocksteady recently laid off some employees after announcing it would cease support for Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League, a game slated for 2024.
Last year, Warner Bros acknowledged that its gaming division wasn’t performing as well as hoped and wrote off $200 million on the Suicide Squad project. This led to the closure of three studios, including one run by Monolith. Additionally, David Haddad, who had been a key figure at Warner Bros for some time, recently announced he would be stepping down.
