Ever since the announcement about Forza Horizon 5 making its way to the PS5, it seems like the floodgates are wide open for Xbox games to cross over to Sony’s console. Recently, there’s been a buzz that Marcus Fenix and the Locust Horde might find a new battleground on PlayStation consoles by the end of the year. The latest scoop suggests that we could be seeing a collection featuring the first three Gears of War titles, set to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S simultaneously.
### A Gears of War Collection Featuring the Original Trilogy is Headed to PS5
A well-known leaker, eXtas1s, has shared that a Gears of War collection is in development. While the exact timing of any official announcement remains uncertain, eXtas1s is confident that it will debut on multiple platforms right from launch. One enticing feature of this collection is expected to be the inclusion of cross-play, which would allow gamers to team up or face off across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
“I’m able to discuss the Gears Collection now because verifying its existence was quite a task,” shared eXtas1s, according to a translation by ResetEra member Rychu. “But it seems that it truly is happening. I can state with some certainty that when the Gears Collection is finally announced, though I don’t know the timing, it will be available across platforms from day one. Again, these kinds of remasters will offer the ability to play across different systems. The only thing I haven’t confirmed is a Switch version, but it’s definitely playable across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.”
This isn’t the first hint we’ve had about Gears of War potentially landing on the PS5. Earlier, Jez Corden from Windows Central suggested that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition might make an appearance on Sony’s console, possibly by 2025.
As with all rumors and speculative reports, it’s best to keep expectations in check. Even though many insiders seem to be backing each other up, game development is a notoriously unpredictable field, and plans can shift rapidly. Until an official announcement is made, all we can do is wait and hope.
