Sony recently unveiled their annual roundup of top downloads across the PlayStation platforms for 2024. While there hasn’t been a dramatic shift from PSVR 2’s debut year, the results were fairly predictable.
As PSVR 2 approaches its two-year mark, there’s been a discourse around the headset’s reception. Despite criticisms of its post-launch support, especially when compared to the extensive backing the original PSVR enjoyed, die-hard fans argue otherwise. True to its design, the PSVR 2 is built to impress, allowing developers to achieve higher render resolutions and more detailed graphics than what’s possible on Meta’s popular competitor, the Quest 3. The headset also expanded its capabilities by introducing a wired adapter last June, enabling support for PC VR titles. Despite these advancements, the real measure lies in the games that users are consistently downloading from the PlayStation Store.

Unsurprisingly, the ever-favored Beat Saber (2018) clinched the top position in both North America and Europe. This is hardly a critique, given it’s often our first recommendation for newcomers to the VR scene.
Only a couple of fresh titles graced this list for 2024. Vertigo Games’ Metro Awakening debuted just in November 2024, which naturally didn’t leave much time to make a significant impact on the yearly downloads. Meanwhile, Urban Wolf Games’ Legendary Tales launched its complete version in February 2024 following an extensive Early Access phase on Steam.
Yet, it’s worth acknowledging that Arizona Sunshine 2 (2023), an impressive sequel from Vertigo Games, hit the market in December 2023, so its inclusion in the 2024 rankings was a bit rushed.
