Some Spider-Verse enthusiasts got quite the surprise recently when they spotted a massive neon sign in New York City, and a few fans are speculating that it might be connected to the highly anticipated third film installment.
Initially, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was slated for release this past March, but those pesky strikes from last year threw a wrench in the works, causing delays. Despite whispers about it being postponed to as far out as 2027, things do seem to be on track. Since the delay, there’s been no official word on the third film, but some Spider-Man aficionados recently strolling through Chelsea, NYC, noticed a colossal neon version of Miles Morales’s spider emblem from Across the Spider-Verse being hoisted in front of what appears to be an apartment building. Naturally, this sighting has sparked some chatter and led people to wonder if an announcement is right around the corner.
A snapshot of the sign quickly made its way onto a Spider-Man subreddit. While some folks jested that it might just be a building owner expressing their love for the character, a few eagle-eyed fans mentioned that Chelsea is actually where Gwen Stacy lives in Across the Spider-Verse. This connection certainly got some people thinking, though, admittedly, it seems like an unconventional way to drum up hype for the upcoming film. After all, if people actually reside in that building, they might not be too thrilled about a glaring neon sign lighting up their nights. Plus, there’s a Latter-Day Saints church right next door — they’re probably not huge fans of the spectacle for similar reasons.
As it stands, there’s scant information available about Beyond, except that it’ll pick up from that tantalizing cliffhanger we were left with in the last movie and that it’ll be entirely AI-free. Until a trailer drops, fans will have to sit tight and speculate. If you happen to be in New York, it might be worth a detour to check out that sign — it could make for an amusing adventure.
