Fast Travel Games has just unveiled an exciting update for Action Hero, their VR shooter drawing inspiration from Superhot, bringing fans a new spooky level and a fresh arcade game mode.
This free update introduces the ‘Cult of Darkness’ level, now accessible on all Quest headsets (from Quest 2 upwards). They’ve also rolled out a new arcade game mode, but that’s exclusively for Quest 3 and 3S users.
In the eerie Cult of Darkness level, players are thrown into a gripping mission where they’ll have to battle through waves of new enemies like zombies. Fast Travel has also packed in some fresh weaponry to keep things exciting.
For those on Quest 3, the Arcade mode invites players to chase high scores on all the game’s existing levels. The developers note that there have been some nifty upgrades to both the visual effects and user interface across these levels.
Here’s a snapshot of what’s new from Fast Travel:
-
6 Core Movies & 6 Director’s Cuts: Dive into an action-packed adventure that includes breaching enemy strongholds, pulling off dramatic heists, and exploring ancient relics. After you’ve tackled these, test your skills with the Director’s Cut versions, which offer additional challenges and unique twists.
-
Comfortable, Cinematic Design: Engage in action with stationary combat, which emphasizes physical movement over button-mashing, paired with smooth slow-motion effects that let you take down foes with style.
- Weekly Shot Challenge & More: Hone your skills for those elusive high scores, discover hidden treasures, or relax in the game’s toned-down mode. The Weekly Shot Challenge combines random acts into a single movie, pushing players to compete for those top scores.
Since its launch in December, exclusively for the Quest, Action Hero has offered thrilling, cinematic shootouts across levels that echo classic film genres. Its affordable price tag of $20 hasn’t hindered its performance on the Horizon Store, where it enjoys a glowing 4.7 out of 5 rating from around 150 reviews.
