Marvelous USA recently announced potential delays for the Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Earth Dancer Edition due to complex tariff issues. This special edition features a collection of exclusive items, including a sacred folding fan, a two-disc soundtrack, a 160-page art book, downloadable content, and a Woolby plush keychain. However, the fan is currently held up at a supplier in China, causing uncertainty about the release schedule.
Ken Berry, President of Marvelous USA, shared that the unpredictable tariff situation has disrupted their plans. Although the fan is ready, transporting it now would incur a significant 20% tariff, a cost they’re unable to absorb or pass on to customers. He explained that despite the fan’s Japanese roots, production took place in China since no Japanese manufacturer could meet their volume requirements at the outset.
Berry assured fans that they are exploring all possibilities to resolve the situation, such as opting for air shipping over sea freight to speed up delivery if necessary. He emphasized his commitment to transparency with the community about these challenges.
Set in the Eastern lands of Azuma, this latest installment offers a vivid world with Japanese-inspired visuals and new gameplay twists. Players will step into the role of an Earth Dancer to restore hope to the blighted region. With the power of dance and a variety of new weapons like the Bow and Talismans, players will farm, rebuild, and battle to rejuvenate the land.
The game features expansive villages inspired by Japanese culture, where players can cultivate relationships and recruit locals for aid in restoring these areas. Key highlights include new abilities for the Earth Dancer, the transformation of villages, and familiar romantic elements, allowing players to choose between two protagonists.
Marvelous USA confirmed that the delay affects only the Earth Dancer Edition for the Nintendo Switch. All standard and digital versions remain on schedule for the June 5, 2025 release. The game promises an immersive experience with its mix of action RPG and life simulation elements, rewarding players with a vibrant take on the beloved series.
