Renowned voice actor Troy Baker is gearing up for a new venture with Sony’s esteemed game studio, Naughty Dog. While the details about the project and Baker’s specific role remain under wraps, it is confirmed that Neil Druckmann is at the helm.
Troy Baker Returns to Naughty Dog
Recently featured in a GQ profile, and highlighted by Eurogamer, it has been affirmed that the lead actor of The Last of Us is making his way back to Naughty Dog. Druckmann expressed his excitement over the reunion, stating, “In a heartbeat, I would always work with Troy.”
Although Naughty Dog has yet to announce their upcoming game officially, there have been subtle hints, some directly from Druckmann. During a webinar with BioShock creator Ken Levine, he revealed that the project has been in the works since 2020. Despite Sony withholding permission for an official announcement, Druckmann enjoys full creative control over the development.
Speculation is rife, suggesting that the critically acclaimed studio might be tackling a fantasy game focused on offering players significant freedom.
Baker is no stranger to the gaming world, having lent his voice to countless hits over the years, including franchises like The Last of Us, Death Stranding, Borderlands, Uncharted, and Metal Gear Solid, among many others. Lately, he has taken a step back, appearing in only two new titles this year: Batman: Arkham Shadow and the anticipated Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
The GQ profile suggests that Baker’s career success has afforded him the privilege to be choosy about his roles. Notably, he is involved in the eagerly awaited Ken Levine project, Judas, and will reprise his role as Higgs in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
Rumor has it that PlayStation is gearing up for some big announcements soon, and there’s a chance this could be part of that lineup.
