When Survios dropped their much-anticipated horror shooter Alien: Rogue Incursion (2024) last week, we didn’t realize we were picking up a ‘Part One.’ Turns out, it’s not about getting just a slice of the game but rather a promise of much more to come.
Upon its launch for PC VR and PSVR 2, many players were puzzled by the new ‘Part One’ label. Was it a full game, or were we looking at episodic releases?
In our comprehensive review, we rated the substantial eight-hour experience a solid 7 out of 10. The game offers immersive worlds and adrenaline-pumping encounters with swarming Xenomorphs, though a bit let down by repetitive foes and a tough save system.
Survios recently clarified on X that their intention wasn’t to puzzle players with the ‘Part One’ tag. They emphasized that the standalone adventure isn’t chopped into segments. It does leave off at a cliffhanger, marking it as the first of a two-part saga.
Good news: Part Two is already in the works. Last week, Survios confirmed that it will introduce “deadlier enemies and more challenging obstacles.” That certainly piques our interest.
Meanwhile, we’re keenly awaiting how the game will stack up on Quest 3/3S, with its release set for February 13, 2025. As noted in our review, the game boasts features like dynamic loading levels, intricate textures, and a host of physics-based interactions, which likely contributed to the delay for the Quest release.
Here’s what Survios had to say in their full statement:
> To our valued community,
> We’ve heard a lot from you about the “Part One” label in Alien: Rogue Incursion’s opening scenes, achievement lists, and store pages.
> Misleading or confusing you was never our goal, and we see now how the label could cause misinterpretation.
> Part One is a self-contained adventure culminating in a cliffhanger, and we wanted our fans to know there’s more in the pipeline, so we announced Part Two alongside the launch. Everyone at Survios is a fan of the Alien universe, eager to weave more tales about Zula, Davis, and beyond.
> While we don’t have further announcements about Part Two, other than its active development, rest assured we’ll share exciting updates in due time.
> We are grateful for your enthusiasm and hope you savor exploring Purdan and Castor’s Cradle as much as we relished creating it.
