As January rolls in, Xbox users are once again feeling the sting of server shutdowns. It can be a bit of a scramble deciding which games to dive into before they go offline. To help you make the most of your gaming time, we’ve compiled a list of all the Xbox server closures scheduled for January 2025, right after the rundown of December 2024’s shutdowns.
Looking ahead to January’s lineup, WWE 2K23 warrants immediate attention. Initially set for a shutdown on September 30, 2K Games decided to extend its run until January. Both the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One editions will see their online features fade away on January 6, 2025. Consequently, you’ll find 13 achievements disappearing from each version’s list. Unfortunately, those who haven’t snagged a copy yet are out of luck, as WWE 2K23 is no longer available on the Xbox store.
Meanwhile, EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA Tour is also on the chopping block, with servers going offline on January 16, 2025. This golfing simulation comes with a couple of online-only achievements—Playing For Fun and Playing For Rank—that will become inaccessible post-shutdown. These achievements are a breeze; all you really need to do is join an unranked H2H game. However, bear in mind that the tour already hosts two achievements that can’t be obtained anymore, making a full completion a distant dream for some.
Then we have Bandai Namco’s Blue Protocol, which is bidding farewell on January 18, 2025. This MMORPG, despite a brief life, never saw a Western release and can be downloaded solely from the Japanese Xbox store. With its servers closing, all in-game achievements will also become unavailable, although not many gamer’s have started this elusive title.
On a side note, December 2024 brought with it the delisting of 19 Xbox titles, some of which are quite popular. Are there any titles that you need to revisit for those elusive online achievements before they vanish for good? Jump into the discussion below and share your thoughts!
